Overcoming Challenges
One of the primary challenges was ensuring that the digital menu loads instantly even on poor mobile networks, as customers are often on edge connections inside restaurants. To solve this, the application was built using React and Tailwind CSS for an incredibly lightweight frontend bundle, and the static assets (menu images) were aggressively compressed and served via CDN.
Additionally, handling table-specific sessions required dynamically generating unique QR codes that encoded the table number directly into the URL, ensuring that orders were automatically routed to the correct table in the kitchen dashboard without manual customer input.
